Bradford City Centre Project
Our Policies

Larger Text / Smaller Text

In the light of the 1999 Macpherson Report on the investigation into the racist murder of Stephen Lawrence in April 1993, Bradford City Centre Project wishes to emphasise its commitment to making positive steps towards eliminating racism from the Project and the wider community.

Therefore the Project endorses the Macpherson Report’s definition of a racist incident as:

Any incident which is perceived to be racist by the victim or any other person. (Macpherson Report Recommendation 12)

Bradford City Centre Project will also work towards eliminating institutional racism, which the Macpherson report defines as:

The collective failure of an organisation to provide an appropriate and professional service to people because of their colour, culture or ethnic origin. It can be seen in processes attitudes and behaviour which amount to discrimination through unwitting prejudice, ignorance, thoughtlessness and racist stereotyping. (Macpherson Report Section 6:34)

Bradford City Centre Project is committed to changing processes, attitudes and behaviour so that racism is eradicated both within the organisation and in the community.
